San Francisco Urban Adventure Example Itinerary
The tour begins with pickup at your San Francisco hotel. Then we leave the big buses behind on this guided tour to explore San Francisco tourist spots like street-art alleys in the Mission, mosaic-decorated stairways in the Sunset, the laid-back outdoor vibe of the Presidio, the Beaux-Arts beauty of City Hall, the famous “Painted Ladies” at Alamo Square, or even go down the REAL crookedest street in San Francisco (it’s not Lombard Street!)
It all depends on what you and the rest of the small group are interested in and what unique things are happening that day.
It’s a long morning out in the city, so we will also stop at an organic market where you can get lunch and do some local people watching.
Ghirardelli Square
Ghiradelli Square in Fisherman’s Wharf is a sweet spot to begin our tour. Filled with places to eat, fun activities, and shopping, this historic landmark connects the Embarcadero to the Marina and Presidio.
Fort Point
A great stop, whether you are interested in marine life, architecture, maritime history, or are looking for phenomenal views. Everyone will appreciate Fort Point for the pics you’ll get of the Golden Gate Bridge.
Twin Peaks
Twin Peaks is in stiff competition with the Marin Headlands for the best views of San Francisco. There is a 64-acre hilltop park with 360-degree views of the Bay Area. It can be windy, so bring a coat.
The Castro
The Castro District is beneath the Twin Peaks and is between Mission and Haight-Ashbury. There is a lot to see in this vibrant neighborhood, like the Castro Theater (a historic landmark) and many of San Francisco’s famous street murals.
Haight District
This neighborhood is ever-changing, yet it always holds on to a piece of its varied history. The intersection of Haight-Ashbury is where the peace movement was born. And, you’ll find the Victorian homes resplendent in their new bright colors.
Mosaic Stairs
San Francisco embraces and celebrates public art. Some of the best street art is found on stairwells throughout the city. Beautiful mosaics make it easy to take the extra step when walking around the gorgeous and hilly Bay City.
